Our Nightingale Lamp pin is very special and is named for the legendary
nurse Florence Nightingale the "Lady of the Lamp" and uses the lamp of knowledge as the symbol of nursing education. Ms. Nightingale was a founding pioneer of the concept of teaching nursing as a profession and founded a nursing school and medical college for woman about 150 years ago. The symbol of the Lamp of Knowledge also comes from the Greek stories of the search for scientific knowledge. The pin is gold plated with a small red flame.
